What you'll learn
Four traditions, one foundation
Chen-style Taijiquan
The original family style of Tai Chi — the source the others grew from. Slow, grounded, and powerful, with a depth that rewards a lifetime of practice.
Qigong
Breath, posture, and gentle movement to build energy and calm the mind. The best place for newcomers to begin, and valuable at every level.
Yiquan
An internal art built on standing practice and intention rather than fixed forms. Deceptively simple, deeply transformative for structure and awareness.
Baguazhang
Sun-style Bagua — circular walking and continuous change. A beautiful, demanding practice for coordination, agility, and martial understanding.
Who it's for
If you're wondering whether this is for you
It is. I teach complete beginners alongside students who've trained with me for years, and the practice meets each person where they are.
People come to these classes for different reasons — health and mobility, stress and stillness, the martial art, or simply the discipline of doing one thing well over time. Older students find it gentle on the joints and good for balance. Younger students find there's far more depth here than it first appears.
You don't need to be fit, flexible, or experienced. You need comfortable clothes and a willingness to go slowly.
Private Lessons
Focused, personalized instruction at a pace and place that suit you. Ideal if you want to progress faster, work around an injury, or prefer learning privately.

Common questions
I've never done Tai Chi. Can I just show up?
Yes. Classes run year-round at Robson Square (Saturday mornings) and Kits Beach (Wednesday evenings). Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes, arrive any time during the session, and I'll start you with the foundations.
Do I need to register or commit?
No. You can drop in for a single class at $35, or buy an 8-class pack for $200 if you'd like to keep coming. No memberships, no contracts.
What if it rains?
We train anyway, within reason — light rain doesn't stop us. In extreme weather I'll let regulars know. The outdoor practice is part of what makes it good.
Is it suitable for seniors or people with injuries?
Very much so. Tai Chi and Qigong are gentle on the joints and excellent for balance, mobility, and stress. If you're working around an injury, let me know and we'll adapt — private lessons can be a good option here too.
Which style do you teach, and who did you learn from?
Chen-style Taijiquan — the original family style — along with Qigong, Yiquan, and Sun-style Baguazhang, all learned directly from Master Liu Ming. The emphasis is on health, structure, and depth, not performance.
